Many ..if not all of you are looking at the title saying
"Crunchy whaaa?"
Well you're not alone.
Reasoning behind this blog::
My little Brynnley McKenna Ann is 2 months old,
& I want to have a place where I can share my experiences with what others have been calling
"Natural, Attachment, or
Crunchy Parenting"
We just call it parenting
Crunchy Parenting"
We just call it parenting
How it started::
Well I've always been on the weird side when it comes to medicine, food, ect.
(For this I blame my mother...
she never gave us any medication as children.
she never gave us any medication as children.
I STILL get sick to my stomach if I try to take Tylenol.)
[Our fridge always looked like a forest,
and we had enough carrots to feed a stable of horses.]
[Our fridge always looked like a forest,
and we had enough carrots to feed a stable of horses.]
We grew up with the mentality that our bodies were designed to fight illness.
(For that I thank you mama)
And also that we have power over our immune systems, bodies, mind ect
by what we eat.
{I mean we are what we eat, right?}
Well after re-moving back in with my mom
I decided to challenge myself & see if I could do 100 days completely raw
[which I epically failed at]
However, I learned alot about myself,
food, & the power it has over my
mind & body.
The few days
[...and I mean very few days]
that I ate raw I felt AMAZING
my depression, anxiety, everything was
gone.
I had more clarity then ever before.
Anywho
when I found out I was pregnant
I decided I might as well pass the
craziness
on to this little one.
After little baby B was born
we just did what we felt was natural.
It wasn't until I had made a commented on someones
What To Expect (online blog)
post that I was acquainted with the term
"crunchy"
Well I was actually called
"One of those crazy, new aged, hippie, crunchy kind of mama's."
Simply because I said I do not believe in giving my
TWO HOUR
old baby a vaccination for Hepatitis B,
which is is a vaccine for
sexually transmitted diseases....
at two hours old???
No thank you!
{Clearly a rant for another day}
Anyway....
At first I took offense to this...
being that I was not sure what it meant.
However, after doing research I took it as a compliment.
It basically refers to people who believe in raising their children
as naturally as they know how.
Crunchy Parents tend to be those who:
co- sleep
don't vaccinate
breast feed
baby wear
feed on demand
don't believe in "crying it out"
homeschool
cloth diaper
home birth
natural birth
eat locally/ naturally
alternative medications
ect.
Okay Enough With the Rant::
Basically I just want to share my experiences with other mama's
(and daddys)
the ups & downs
the ridicule
the support
and everything in between.
